The Most Exciting Christmas Eve Traditions
Everyone looks forward to the excitement and joy that Christmas Day brings each and every year. Whether it’s unwrapping presents underneath the tree or having a traditional Christmas dinner with loved ones, there are so many different traditions to look forward to. Christmas Eve, on the other hand, has just as many fun traditions to experience as well. Regardless of how you and your family celebrate Christmas Eve, Holiday Road has provided you with several fun and exciting Christmas Eve traditions and activities that you can enjoy with the whole family. Keep reading below and learn how you can take Christmas Eve to a whole new level of festive fun this year!
Hiding the Christmas Pickle
Hiding the Christmas pickle has become increasingly popular in recent years. How does this Christmas tradition work, you might ask? On Christmas Eve, hide a pickle ornament somewhere on your Christmas tree. Then, in the morning, your children will compete to discover it first, which will determine who opens the first Christmas present or receives a small prize!
Reading Christmas Cards
There’s nothing quite like reading an old-fashioned Christmas card! This year, take some time out of your busy Christmas Eve to read them and fill yourself with joy and appreciation for all the people and family members in your life!
Gathering Around a Bonfire
If you’re looking for a cozy Christmas Eve this year, host a bonfire with friends and family! Make sure you have your cozy Christmas blankets, hot chocolate, winter hats, mittens, and maybe even ingredients for s’mores!
Christmas Family Photos
Everyone say Santa! Dive into the holiday spirit this year by taking festive family pictures with the ones you love most. Get creative by wearing matching Christmas pajamas or a special Christmas theme. Take as many photos as possible because Christmas memories are the best memories!
Christmas Scavenger Hunt
Make your Christmas Eve an interactive one this year! Christmas scavenger hunts are fun for both children and adults. You can begin yours by making a list of outdoor Christmas decorations that are both easy and challenging to find, such as snowman blow molds, inflatable Santas, wreaths with bells, or light-up reindeer. See how many Christmas items you can check off your list!
Play in the Snow!
If your city or town is lucky enough to have snow on Christmas Eve, take advantage of the winter fun! There’s nothing better than a white Christmas! Go outside and build a snowman, have a snowball fight, create snow angels, or go sledding! The outdoor activities are endless!
